There is an old saying that goes back almost forever. It goes something like this: “Every one always complains about the weather, but nobody ever does anything about it.” We all know that there is very little we can do to change the weather.*****If we change a few words in this saying like this: “Every one complains about our schools, but nobody ever does anything about them” we get a fraze we can do something about. Our schools do not need reform, they need yo be changed. They need to be improved. They need to be brought into the 21st century. Our state does not need a bunch of new, subsidised private school nor subsidised Religous schools. If a private school cannot support itself, it shouldn’t be in business. Private schools are a luxury, not a NEED.
Our children and their descendents will be the ones who lead our government and our country in the future. They need the best education we can give them to carry out this task. Instead of our Governor and the legislature sitting on their fat asses at the state house bickering and arguing, they need to forget they are democrats and republicans and put their heads together as grown men instead of acting like five-year olds and come up with a plan and finances to pay for that plan. What good does it do to have a Majority Leader and a Minority Leader if they cannot work together, cannot lead and cannot control the other members.
The first item on every state, county, city, town and township budget should be SCHOOLS. When all cost estimates for needed school funds have been submitted, that amount of money (and not a penny less) should be set aside for them. Now you say where do we get this money. WE CUT. We cut out unneeded staff; we cut out unneeded departments, commissions, services, etc.; we cut budgets; we cut out the “dead wood.” We all know that these cuts will not satisfy getting all the funds needed so what do we do next?? TAXES!!! Yes people taxes. We raise existing taxes, we charge more for services, we create new taxes, we cut out income tax loopholes, we make the wealthy, CEO’s, COO’s, pay their fair share, we cut the outrageous profits of big business, etc. We do whatever it takes!!!!!!!!! If we do not get our governments back on a financial track and get our economy back in shape, our governments will go bankrupt, our children will not get their needed education and we will be standing in soup lines as they did in the 1930s. It’s time for our Governor and legislature to get real, rid themselves of selfishness and work for the good of the people. It’s obvious that our President and U.S. Congress are not going to get anything done. God bless our state and God bless America!!!!!!!!!!
