Most “Native Hoosiers” and many “Retread Hoosiers” (of which I am one) are familiar with the explanation…..”A Hoosier is a Kentuckian on his way to Michigan” although it’s not as true now as it was in the distant past.  A good example would be Abraham Lincoln except somewhere along the way he made a sharp left turn and went to Illinois.  He received his youthful education here in Indiana, his further education in Illinois, became a lawyer, a legislator and eventually our sixteenth president. From this brief synopsis, we can assume that his Indiana education was the beginning of a great, but tragic, career in politics.  Not so since.

The majority of todays legislators, like their forefathers, are nothing more than a bunch of “Hill Billies” who believe in the good ole boy, hooray for me and screw you type of politics. They do not have the people’s wishes or welfare in mind;  they only care which party gets the credit for a new bill/law.  They have spent so much time arguing amongst each other over the years that Indiana laws and it’s Constitution are at least 20 years behind the times.  The 2011 fiasco going on today at the Capitol proves just that.  Hopefully one day Indiana will have a Governor who won’t put up with all these shenanigans and he/she will get some changes made.  But, you what, things will probably never change because the rest of the “Hill Billies” who live and vote here will keep electing the same “Good Ole Boys”………  Let’s come to our senses people and get the “Govern” back in our Government.
